Hey gang,
I haven't done any Dead Sled Wrenching this year but I've been working on groomers a lot. I'll make another post in a day or two but this one is fresh in my mind.
Last night I took the Pisten Bully out:
Ben, the regular operator is off riding which is how I happened to be in the machine. Normally he is the only PB operator.
We made some nice trails until the machine started acting up. We've been having intermittent problems with the drive and of course it happened to me. When I took the picture the machine was at full power but just creeping along. At another point it was stopped entirely.
I was thinking about how to work on the problem when I made a horrible realization. When loading up I'd put my toolbox on the driver's side track and gone back to the truck for the chainsaw. Then I realized that since I was alone I could put the saw on the passenger side footwell, which is when I forgot about the toolbox.
Then I drove off.
I'm not sure how much the machine weighs but it squashed my Harbor Freight 301 piece tool kit like a grape. It must have been interesting to see, it looks like the tools must have squirted out of it. I found most of the sockets but I didn't see any screwdrivers...
I bought the kit when I first started as an operator in 2018. I'd lost a couple sockets but otherwise it was pretty much perfect.
Guess who is going to Harbor Freight to buy another toolkit?
